States of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas

  Project Purpose:
The primary mission of Region 6 Comparative Risk Project was to gather scientific data and regulatory information for the purpose of evaluation twenty-four environmental problem areas as to their relative risk to the Region's ecology, human health, and economy.

  Ranking Process:
Under direction of the Steering Committee, three Workgroups (Ecological, Human Health, and Economic) constructed three separate rankings.

Various U.S. EPA staff, predominantly from Region 6, comprised the Ecological and Human Health Workgroups, while the Economic Workgroup was staffed by an outside, private consulting firm.
