  Project Description

  Geographical Coverage:
State of Vermont

[ top ]

  Project Purpose:
To develop a more accurate understanding of the risk posed by Vermont's environmental problems, share that information with Vermonters, use that shared understanding to reduce risks.

  Ranking Process:
The project has two distinct phases:

Phase 1 - Assess and rank risks
Phase 2 - Revise priorities and reduce risks

The ranking took place during Phase 1. During this phase, three Technical Work Groups (Health, Ecosystems, and Quality of Life) drafted technical reports on each problem and submitted these reports to the Public Advisory Committee (PAC). The PAC circulated the technical reports to the general public for review and held several public forums and events to gather public input for themselves and the Technical Work Groups. After incorporating the public input, the Technical Work Groups made their final rankings, which the PAC used as the foundation for its final Integrated Rankings of Risks.
