- To determine the relative severity of the different environmental problems facing the Wisconsin Tribes;
- To learn how the comparative risk framework and methods should be adjusted to fit the unique characteristics of the Wisconsin Tribes;
- To determine how the risks facing the Wisconsin Tribes compare with those facing broader populations studied in other comparative risk projects; and
- By gaining a better understanding of the environmental problems facing the Tribes, to provide a start toward managing them better.

The Project Work Group consisted of representatives from the U.S. EPA, predominantly Region 5, and Native American tribes.
