POLLUTION LOCATOR|EPA Superfund Databases

Scorecard's profiles of Superfund sites are based on NPL Fact Sheets and four EPA databases:

The Superfund National Assessment Program database (SNAP) is maintained by US EPA headquarters and contains information on site location, contaminants detected, Hazard Ranking System scores and other site information. Scorecard utilizes a 1999 version of EPA's SNAP database on CD, as well as exports from SNAP obtained directly from EPA with site information current through March 2004.
The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Information System (CERCLIS) database is maintained periodically by EPA regional offices and contains information on site location, remedial actions taken, contaminants detected and other site information. Scorecard utilizes a 1999 version of EPA's CERCLIS Reports on CD, in addition to the version available online at http://www.epa.gov/superfund/sites/cursites/index.htm, with site information current through 2004.
The Potentially Responsible Party database (PRP) can be ordered from EPA's Office of Superfund Remediation and Technology Innovation. Scorecard PRP information is derived from a February 2004 export of List 11.
The Remedial Program Managers database (RPM) was compiled from the results of a survey administered to EPA Regional Remedial Project Managers in August 1993. This survey has not been updated, so details about groundwater and drinking water contamination are not available for Superfund sites added to the NPL List since August 1993.
Note: Since recent additions to the NPL List are not covered by some of these EPA databases, Scorecard is unable to provide complete profiles for some new sites.
